Setting Up No-Go Zones
Keep your robot vacuum away from cords, pet bowls, and kid corners with virtual walls that take minutes to configure.
Why it matters
No-go zones prevent stuck wheels, water spills, and shredded cords so cleaning runs finish faster.
What you need
A mapped floorplan, updated firmware, and access to your robot’s mobile app.
Time required
Plan on 10–15 minutes per floor to place zones and test a short run.
Step-by-step setup
- Open your saved map and tap the no-go or virtual wall tool.
- Drag rectangles over pet bowls, cables near TV stands, and loose rugs.
- Add thin wall lines across doorways you rarely want cleaned.
- Rename rooms and save zones before starting a test clean.
- Run a quick 5–10 minute job to confirm the robot respects each boundary.
Smart placement tips
- Keep zones at least 6–12 inches wider than the hazard so side brushes never touch it.
- Use larger rectangles for areas with cords or surge protectors instead of thin lines.
- Place temporary zones over holiday trees or decorations, then delete them after.
- Add a keep-out box around stair edges even if your model has cliff sensors.
Troubleshooting
If your robot ignores a boundary, resync the map, redraw the zone slightly larger, and verify the dock hasn’t moved. Some brands require hitting “Save” on both the map and the zone list before changes stick.
When to re-check zones
Update no-go areas after rearranging furniture, swapping rugs, or adding new cables for gaming consoles. A fresh test run after big moves prevents frustrating tangles later.
